Frazier believes that the largest issue facing Danville is the lack of housing, especially
transitional housing. There are many factors for this: The rising cost of purchasing a house; the
rapid growth of Danville and the surrounding areas; and the stagnation of wages. Frazier will
address this issue by collaborating with local organizations that are already starting to address the
housing epidemic. These collaborations will not only find avenues to fix the issue, but create
systemic change to prevent homelessness. Frazier’s role as Executive Director of 3rd Chance
Housing has made her realize that these organizations are critical in addressing the issue.
The most important focus when talking about the growth of our region is making sure that the
citizens are not left behind. Frazier knows that collaboration with community members who can
learn trades and prepare for the economic development that is coming and local educational
institutions will prepare our community for the coming growth. These collaborations may come
in the form of enhancing technical education in the public schools, or creating internships in the
community for anyone who wants to learn a trade. This also means a focus on creating economic
growth with businesses that are already present in the community and an emphasis on ensuring
the public school system is preparing the future workforce for the area.
To continue to foster the relationship between Danville and Pittsylvania County is to continue
the collaborations that have already been in place. However, Frazier will not stop there. She will
continue to serve on boards of local nonprofits that serve both localities. Serving on these boards
will allow her to be knowledgeable of the opportunities that are available for Danville and
Pittsylvania County to grow together. This relationship is important because of the citizens.
Because the communities are so interlocked by individuals living and working in both localities,
the relationship allows for those citizens to reap the benefits of both communities growing strong
economies together.
Frazier believes that drug treatments should be strengthened in the community. Frazier, as a
member of the Danville Pittsylvania Community Services (DPCS) Board of Directors, is aware
of the incredible substance abuse treatment and prevention measures being taken in the
community. However, as opposed to just local nonprofits having the burden of treating drug
abuse and preparing citizens for drug emergencies, she believes that there should be more clinics
for anyone who may need those services. Not only do they need to be treated for their substance
abuses, but they also need to be rehabilitated, which means preparing them to be productive
citizens once they have become clean.
Voters should know that Frazier promises that she will listen and put forth the work that is
needed for our community to grow and be better for the present and the future. She may not be
able to please everyone, but she will listen to everyone’s concerns and do what is best for all
concerned.
Frazier believes in transparency with all government departments so that citizens are informed of
the government that works for them. As a member of the Danville Police Review Committee,
Frazier views bodycam footage of our officers at work. She sees firsthand the incredible work
that the Danville Police Department is doing in our community, and she believes that community
policing should continue in our communities. Frazier also believes that when officers are in the
wrong, they should be held accountable for their actions.
As the youth of every community is the future, Frazier believes that the youth of our
communities should be given every opportunity to succeed in Danville. This means an emphasis
on bettering our public education, advocating for youth physical and mental health awareness,
advocating for technical education, and creating a healthy economy for the future workforce.
Frazier is not ashamed of her story; she has been on both sides of the law and has been a
successful and impactful member of the Danville community. However, without having her
rights restored, she would not have been able to make her political voice known. As a member of
the Danville City Council, Frazier will advocate for convicted felons to restore their rights. This
will be their first step in being reintroduced into society and being productive citizens.
Connecting our community is a saying, but an action. Connecting our community is connecting
the people to what they need. These needs could be met by nonprofits or the local government.
When Frazier serves Danville on the City Council, she will advocate to ensure that everyone
knows of every resource there is in Danville if they ever need them.
